Livox AVIA2 1535 nm Fiber Laser LiDAR with Fan

3.810,45 €

Livox AVIA2 is a 1535 nm fiber laser LiDAR with fan for long-range industrial sensing, infrastructure inspection and spatial measurement. It combines selectable wide-area and focused viewing modes with fine-beam point-cloud acquisition, making it relevant to transmission corridors, railway approaches, bulk-material sites and waterway monitoring. This listing is the with-fan version, not the smaller NF configuration.

Select 80° × 80° Normal mode for wider coverage or 15° × 15° Focus mode for distant inspection. At 100 klx, Normal mode specifies 400 m at 5% reflectivity and a 400 m maximum range. Livox also gives an approximately 600 m at 10% reflectivity equivalent; this is not an extension of the Normal-mode cutoff. Focus mode specifies at least 800 m at 10% reflectivity, with a 1000 m cutoff.

Important: AVIA2 does not support hot swapping. Shut down the sensor before connecting or disconnecting it to avoid damage.

Livox AVIA2 Normal and Focus field of view

Features

  • 1535 nm Class 1 laser: A 1535 nm laser in the broader 1550 nm eye-safe spectrum supports ultra-long-range sensing.
  • Dual field of view: Select 80° × 80° Normal mode for wide coverage or 15° × 15° Focus mode for long-range observation.
  • Long-range detection: The official 100 klx specification lists 400 m at 5% reflectivity in Normal mode and at least 800 m at 10% reflectivity in Focus mode.
  • Fine-beam detail: A 0.25 mrad × 0.25 mrad beam divergence corresponds to a theoretical 2.5 cm spot diameter at 100 m.
  • Accurate long-distance data: The official specification lists range precision of up to 4 cm at 1σ from 5 to 400 m and up to 6 cm at 1σ from 400 to 700 m at FOV center.
  • Non-repetitive scanning: A wedge-prism scan pattern accumulates point-cloud coverage over time for detailed scene capture.
  • Rain and fog noise removal: Livox describes built-in strategies for identifying and filtering interference from rain and fog, subject to environmental conditions.
  • Industrial environmental rating: The complete AVIA2 sensor is IP66 with a specified operating range of -20°C to 65°C.

Measurement conditions: The accuracy and precision figures refer to FOV-center tests at 25°C using an 80% reflector at 5-90 m with an attenuator, as specified by Livox. Precision is statistical repeatability, not a guarantee of application-level accuracy under all conditions. The 5 m blind zone at 80% reflectivity also makes AVIA2 different from a near-field obstacle sensor.

Application

AVIA2 supports wide-area and long-distance sensing where target geometry and point-cloud density matter. Choose Normal or Focus mode for the required field of view and range, then evaluate weather, reflectivity and occlusion at the deployment site. Detection, classification, volume calculation and alerts are application-level processing tasks.

  • Power-line security - Capture corridor geometry and thin objects such as wires, branches and crane structures for infrastructure monitoring. Focus mode can concentrate samples into a distant area of interest, while Normal mode covers a wider zone.
  • Wayside condition maintenance - Observe railway approaches, tunnel entrances and nearby slopes from a fixed mounting point. Plan sightlines around terrain and structures, then validate host-side obstacle rules with representative targets.
  • Bulk material volume measurement - Acquire point clouds of coal, grain and other irregular stockpiles for a volume-measurement pipeline. Accurate volume results depend on calibrated installation, a reference surface and coverage of the pile rather than range precision alone.
  • Smart waterways - Collect long-range spatial data along waterway corridors and vessel-transit areas. Test the sensing layout under site-specific weather and target reflectivity; rain and fog filtering does not eliminate all environmental limitations.
  • Industrial perimeter monitoring - Map substations, facilities and infrastructure zones using wide Normal-mode coverage. Combine multiple views where equipment blocks the line of sight and account for the 5 m specified blind zone near the sensor.
  • Long-range inspection research - Study small-target representation using the fine beam and configurable sensing modes. Keep range, return selection, integration time and viewing mode with each dataset for meaningful algorithm comparisons.

Integration and Deployment

The official specification lists a 100 Mbps Ethernet data port, with GPS (PPS + GPRMC), PTP (IEEE 1588) and NTP synchronization. AVIA2 outputs Cartesian point-cloud data with x, y, z, intensity and tag fields and includes an ICM40609D IMU.

Use a regulated 9-27 V DC supply that can handle the documented 55 W starting power. For frequent-restart scenarios above 50°C ambient temperature, follow the official specification guidance and confirm mounting, ventilation and operating conditions before final deployment.

Software workflow: The AVIA2 manual directs developers to Livox Viewer 2, Livox SDK2, Livox ROS Driver2 and Livox Wiki. Follow the AVIA2-specific instructions and configuration supplied for the installed software revision, rather than reusing original AVIA network and driver settings. Inspect raw point clouds and timestamps before connecting the sensor to a host-side perception pipeline.

High-temperature restart condition: For scenarios involving frequent restarts above 50°C ambient temperature, Livox recommends limiting each continuous operating period to 5 minutes to reduce overheating risk. This condition is distinct from the general -20°C to 65°C operating-temperature specification.

Optical installation: Keep the optical path and cooling airflow clear. Avoid pointing the sensor at close-range, high-reflectivity objects such as low-E glass or corner-cube retroreflectors, following the official warning about strong returned light and potential receiver damage.
